Accessibility statement

The charity works to make this site usable by everyone, including people with visual, hearing, motor or attention disabilities and people using assistive technology. We treat this as a legal duty and as a moral one.

This site is built to meet Israeli Standard 5568 (ת"י 5568) at level AA, which is based on the W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA.

The site is built with HTML, CSS and JavaScript, and is tested in current browsers together with keyboard-only navigation.

• Full keyboard navigation on every page, with a clearly visible focus indicator and a "skip to main content" link at the top of each page.
• A correct heading hierarchy on every page, labelled navigation regions, and page content inside an identified main region.
• A contrast ratio of at least 4.5:1 for text and at least 3:1 for the borders of controls; no information is carried by colour alone.
• Every form field has an associated label and an explanation, and error messages are announced to screen readers.
• Every image has alternative text, and images that are purely decorative are marked as such so they are not read out.
• The site is served in Hebrew and English, with the correct language and writing direction on every page and on every language switch.
• A permanent accessibility button in the corner of the screen offering text resizing, high contrast, highlighted links and stopped animations.

We would rather say plainly what is still outstanding:

• The occupancy calendar in the management area is built on a third-party calendar component. It is used only by the charity's staff and is not part of the public site, and its keyboard and screen-reader support has not yet been completed.
• The request forms are protected by an external Cloudflare verification service. It was chosen because it does not require identifying images, but it is loaded from a third-party site and its accessibility is outside our control.
• Alternative text for gallery photographs is derived from the file names. Some of it is too generic, and we are replacing it with written descriptions.
• The donation link leads to an external site that we do not operate and whose level of accessibility we do not control.
• An audit by an external certified accessibility consultant has not yet been carried out. One is planned.

If you hit a problem that is not on this list we would genuinely like to hear about it. Every such report is acted on.
